Start with a start thinking about the things you are passionate about that you love doing. If you find that you like engaging with your friends on Facebook, why not share information on gathering more friends using your technique?

If you love jogging in the morning, why not share a jogging technique that people will increase their jogging stamina?

If you love basketball, why not share basketball information, play it, demonstrate various movements, and other related things about basketball. You can also share new updates about basketball events and news.

2. Market Research.

Now that you already have your potential topic, you need to find the profitability and commerciality of the topic or market that you want to tap. Through this, you will find how you are going to monetize your blog.

Let’s assume that you want to test “jogging tips.” to do this, you need to search on Google for those topics that you already have on your list. To know the commerciality on this topic, find some advertisers within the Google search engine page results. You can find it above the search results colored in light pink or on the right side of the search result pages.

If you found out that there are some advertisements in your topic, it is a good sign that this topic is a good market for you to tap in that you can monetize it using affiliate marketing techniques. But if you found out that there is no advertisement, you can only monetize that topic using Google AdSense or text link ads.

3. Keyword Research.

Keyword research is critical because if you choose the wrong keyword term to promote, you can’t get targeted organic traffic from various search engines like Google, yahoo, or bing.

To do this, you must pick those keywords that have an acceptable amount of monthly searches with low page competition. This way, you can climb up to the first page or even on the first spot of search engine results over a short period of time.

Start with, use the free Google keyword tool to find out the competitiveness and search volume of the keyword you want to promote. You can find this tool here; https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.

When you are on the page, paste in your topic. In our case, we assume to test how to jog. Use the keyword “jogging tips,” enter the captcha below it, and hit search. Wait for a moment ’till you see the results below.

You can see lots of keyword suggestions and details about the local and global monthly search volume on the result. Pick that keyword that has more than at least 1000 global monthly searches and lists down those keywords.

To know the page competition, go to Google.com and paste in the keyword you pick one time, then hit search. After a second, you will find the search engine results below. And right beneath the keyword box, you will see the number of pages promoting the keyword.

After that, list down those keywords that have at least 50,000-page competitions so that you can climb up on the first page or even on the top spot of Google or other search engines in a short period of time. Maybe it will take 3-6 weeks, or maybe you see good results earlier as long as you follow the steps that will be stated further.

Tips.

Make sure that you paste in your keyword terms with “quotes” enclose so that you will know who your real competitors are. Also, pick at least 10 final keywords you want to use.

Another thing is that, know the page rank of the top ten search results and list down their page rank figures. Add those page rank numbers and divide them by 10 to get the average. To be able to get a good race, base their average page rankings through this ratio:

  • Average 1 = Very easy to rank.
  • Average 2 = Medium Difficulty
  • Average 3 = Not too hard but needs patience, as I said above.

5. Search Engine Optimization.

SEO comes in various methods and techniques with specific functions. These are on-page optimization, out-page optimization, link building, image optimization, and keyword research.

On-page optimization – helps your page or article content be search engine friendly. Through this, search engine bots will categorize your article base on its meta keyword, meta description, and content.

To search engine-friendly optimized article, mention your keyword term in the first paragraph of your article or the first sentence. You can repeat mentioning it in the last paragraph of your article or don’t mention it again.
